POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Human Resource (HR) Generalist works in conjunction with the HR Consultant and Director of Administration (DA), in performing clerical and general HR duties.
  • The position is responsible for the HR functions for employees and management, including recruitment, onboarding, and succession support; benefits administration; learning and development activities; employee relations; and general HR support.
  • The position will help manage the various HR components by supporting the HR Department with administrative tasks and reporting functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Human Resources
  • Serve as a Business Partner with managers to develop, implement and meet assigned HR goals and objectives.
  • Counsel, coach, advise and train managers on HR issues, regulations, and responsibilities.
  • Partner with managers on coworker relations, corrective action, continuous improvement, and ongoing development processes.
  • Manage HR-related tasks, such as job postings, scheduling interviews, collecting/submitting paperwork, tracking performance, and data entry.
  • Recruiting assistance such as placing ads, collecting resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Personnel file management and record maintenance.
  • Collecting, and enrolling benefits applications.
  • New staff onboarding including orientation to agency policies and procedures.
  • Schedule staff training and evaluations.
  • Track required documentation and maintain current records.
  • Assist with periodic personnel reports, newsletters, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain required reporting.
  • Maintain employee Microsoft Teams bulletins.
  • Maintain updates to Personnel Policies.
  • Assist with Website employment page.
  • Manager HR email correspondence.
  • Assist with employee initiatives and HR Programs.
  • Support the HR Department in the communications, administration, and implementation of HR programs, including researching and responding to questions/problems.
  • Monitor and measure job satisfaction and coworker morale.
  • Contribute to an environment where UBH culture is a strong and living reality that values and embraces the diversity of coworkers and clients.
Administrative
  • Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the Human Resources department and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust, and support with staff.
  • Works closely and effectively with the HR Department to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.
  • Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting acknowledgment letters, personal correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the DA’s ability to effectively lead human resource development.
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, and proactively, and follows through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Manage interview scheduling, outcomes, and follow-up with candidates.
  • Schedule HR-related appointments, training, events, and meetings.
  • Performs data entry into the organization’s database for HR activities, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Proven interpersonal, communications, analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate with compassion and empathy and show respect for all persons.
  • Expert-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of local and federal regulations governing HR, Compensation, and Benefits.
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and confidence with all levels of employees and management.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
  • Emotional maturity; Exhibit a high level of professionalism.
  • Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high-performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing and sometimes demanding or chaotic environment.
  • Experience working with a diverse population, with sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical and mental illness.
  • Be a dynamic, action-oriented team player, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
  • HR certificate and PHR or SPHR certification are strongly preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and at least 3 years of professional HR Generalist experience.
  • Certification in Human Resources strongly preferred.
  • Strong work tenure: 3+ years of experience in general human resource management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Google Docs, and Social Media Web Platforms.
