The Lifetime Wellness Center (LWC), located in Smyth County Virginia, is now hiring for a full-time Director. With a focus on the health and wellness of the citizens of Smyth County, the Lifetime Wellness Center offers fitness, aquatics, group exercise, team sports, fitness education and personal training across 3 locations in Smyth County.

The LWC Director will serve as the chief administrator of the LWC facilities, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the mission of the Lifetime Wellness Centers. The Director must lead by example in creating and maintaining a strong culture at all LWC locations and be a team player who believes in the power of changing lives through fitness and wellness. The LWC Director reports to the LWC Board of Managers and the Smyth County Community Foundation (SCCF) Executive Director.

Essential Duties:

Leading and inspiring staff across all 3 facilities:

  • Directly managing department managers
  • Encouraging growth and improvement across all cost centers
  • Developing fitness and business skills across all staff
  • Hiring and all personnel actions
  • Performing annual staff reviews in conjunction with department managers

Ensuring members of the LWC receive a consistent, positive, fitness experience:

  • Maintaining a positive, service-oriented relationship with client contact
  • Leading a process of continuous improvement that supports positive member experiences
  • Monitoring and reporting accurate metrics and data for the LWC
  • Ensuring the 3 LWC facilities are well-maintained
  • Managing all members concerns or corrective actions
  • Managing Quality Assurance program; establish and maintain facility specific quality standards

Managing the Business:

  • Plan, organize, develop, and lead the overall work of LWC operations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures and professional standards of practice that govern the operation of the LWC
  • Work with SCCF CFO to develop an annual budget for all three facilities
  • Ensure that projects and department goals are met and adhere to the approved budget
  • Develop Capital Improvement Plan, effectively manage projects to ensure done correctly, on time and within budget
  • Review Financial Reports with SCCF CFO monthly
  • Approve all facility expenditures including, staff expense reports and mileage reimbursement requests
  • Meet monthly with each department manager to discuss department performance to budget and department planning
  • Perform monthly/annual reporting and documentation responsibilities such as quarterly board update reports, monthly metrics, injury reports, etc.
  • Oversee all aspects of LWC membership, including but not limited to, establishing orientation protocols, tracking members, and monitoring membership metrics

Partnering with LWC Board of Managers and engaging with the community:

  • Collaborate with our board of managers to implement new strategies, advance our mission, enhance the member experience, and maintain a positive work environment
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the LWC Board of Managers concerning the LWC
  • Foster relationships in the community with government agencies, schools, businesses, and healthcare providers

And other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from four-year college/university preferred
  • NASM Health/Fitness Specialist Certification preferred; other industry-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc) acknowledged
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to communicate the organization’s mission and vision and develop and grow managers and staff
  • Excellent sales, budget, management, and administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, personable, and friendly disposition
  • Passion for health and wellness and helping others meet their goals
  • Team player
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment
  • Relevant job experience required
  • May, at any time, be required to submit to and successfully pass a thorough background check and/or drug screen
