Reports to: CEO

Classification: Full-time

Work Hours: 8am-4pm Monday-Friday (hybrid); as needed

Summary:

The HR Generalist is a member of the administrative team at Sherwood Autism Center and is responsible for overseeing all HR operations under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The HR Generalist will have a wide range of HR tasks; such as crafting and maintaining HR policies, using the HR Information System (Paylocity) to maintain employee records and facilitating the recruitment process for the organization. This position will also act as the main point of contact for all employees’ queries on HR-related topics.

To be successful in this role, this person must be a self-motivated, detailed, process-oriented team player and able to thrive in a continually evolving environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with the leadership team to identify and implement HR strategies to support the organization
  • Lead the facilitation of all recruiting, hiring, onboarding and offboarding in the organization
  • Administer and process payroll; handle reimbursements and deductions, compensation changes, payroll corrections, benefits and 401k changes
  • Work with benefits team to administer benefits plans
  • Organize and launch annual performance reviews
  • Maintain digital employee records/files within HRIS (Paylocity)
  • Work with executive leadership team on keeping all organizational handbooks, policies and procedures up to date and compliant
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics and resolve any issues that may arise
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Work Environment:

The HR Generalist position will be hybrid – working both at the facility and remotely. Schedule to be agreed upon with CEO.

Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or another related field
  • 3+ years’ experience working in HR or another related field
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines; including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Experience working in an employee facing position
  • Experience and proven success record with recruiting and hiring
  • Experience building and upholding general HR policies, procedures, and handbooks
  • Experience processing payroll and pulling reports/data when needed
  • Ability to garner trust and maintain confidentiality amongst entire company
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Excellent communication skills – written, oral and interpersonal
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Ability to learn new systems and adapt quickly

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in HR; a plus
  • Experience working within an education setting; a plus
