Job Summary:
Southwest Georgia United is seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take it to its next level of growth to better serve its communities. Southwest Georgia is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides business and housing lending, affordable housing development and management, and youth development in the Crisp and Dooly Counties, other persistent poverty rural Georgia counties, and to underserved communities and persons state-wide. The
Skills and Abilities:
- 7 years nonprofit leadership experience in community or economic development or related field; Advanced degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Nonprofit Administration, or related field;
- Ability to operate a non-profit organization with a complex mission in an ethical and legal manner and be sure it complies with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations and policies established by its Board of Directors in its operations and projects.
- Experience in raising funds and resources from individuals, foundations, government grants, and other sources in order to serve the organization’s communities.
- A demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to community needs and community-based organizations and processes in multicultural environments; Excellent verbal and written communication skills and public relations ability. Knowledge and demonstrated skill in developing new projects, ventures, or programs. Knowledge of community, economic, and human development standards and practices, and of the state, federal, and local agencies involved in the industry. Experience in successfully preparing grant applications, status reports, and program guidelines; Experience with organizational budgeting and recordkeeping

- Proven ability to exercise good judgment, customer service, and discretion with sensitive, confidential information and with other team members.
- Proficient with an office platform, such as MS Office and Google.
Responsibilities: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the operations of the Corporation in an ethical and legal manner consistent with the by-laws of the Corporation and the instructions of the Board of Directors.
Resource Development: 45% - Develops resources for Corporation activities under Board-approved processes and procedures. Raise funds and resources from individuals, foundations, government grants, loan interest income, rental housing, and other sources to serve the organization’s communities. Garner financial support by creating and maintaining a qualified portfolio of 40-50 donors with capacity for major gifts ($10,000+). Solicit and steward annual, capital, and planned gifts. Develop relationships and engage with donors and volunteer leadership in support of organizational mission and activities. Authorized and directed to pursue and apply for grant funding opportunities as they become available in support of the vision and mission of the Corporation. Responsible for organizational outreach, communications, and advertising. Develops and maintains communications with community members, especially low-income members, in ways that will involve them in the work of the Corporation. The Chief Executive Officer has the authority to approve and execute grant requests on behalf of the Corporation. SGU is currently implementing a resource development program using the Major Gifts Ramp-Up model with assistance from a consulting firm.
Internal Programs: 45% - Oversee and support staff members in planning and implementing organization programs, including Resource Development, Community Development Finance, Asset Management, and development of additional affordable housing, and Youth Services. Ensures programmatic accountability through programmatic records, showing in full all goals, activities, outputs, and outcomes for each program.
Organizational Support: 10% - Ensure fiscal accountability. Develop assets, funds, real property, and securities. Prepared Annual Budget for Board consideration. Increase lending portfolio. Expand housing stock. Serves as an Officer or Board member of any for-profit or nonprofit organization created by the Corporation in pursuit of its vision. Serves as a Director, Officer, Trustee, or similar position in existing nonprofit or for-profit organizations in support of the Corporation’s vision. Maintains positive and mutually supportive working relationships with individuals, groups, and other organizations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,194.00 - $116,852.00 per year
