Position Title: President/CEO (Salaried)
Reports directly to the Board Chair, with supervision by the Board of Directors.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The President/CEO, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, is responsible for all facets of the organization’s performance. The primary objectives include implementing strategic initiatives to promote the economic prosperity of the Sebago Lakes Region. This includes promoting, marketing, advocating for the interests of the membership, developing a strong membership base, and supervision of all Chamber of Commerce staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Promote the Sebago Lakes Region, member businesses, and the communities the Chamber serves.
· Actively build and maintain membership by, soliciting new members and implementing strategies that will help members become engaged in the Chamber’s activities. Increase participation and improve retention of the organization’s membership base.
· Develop and implement action plans and annual performance objectives to ensure the Chamber is effectively serving the needs of all stakeholders.
· Stay informed of developments and trends in state and local government policies that would impact local businesses and communicate the impact to membership. This includes representing the interests of membership at local and state government functions as necessary.
· Develop and implement a comprehensive Board development plan, which includes methods and tools for orienting, training, educating, and evaluating Board members, to include an annual orientation and training of the Board of Directors after the annual meeting.
· Maintain active involvement in the communities served by the Chamber and represent the Chamber in various civic and community functions to further enhance its image and promote membership.
· Advise the Board of Director’s on policy decisions and make recommendations as to the appropriate course of action. This includes attending monthly meetings as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and setting the agenda at said meetings in consultation with the Chair.
· The President/CEO is responsible for monthly reporting to the Board of Directors about the development, implementation and accomplishments of all activity conducted by the Chamber as per the programs and goals set by the Board of Directors.
· The President/CEO is responsible for financial management which would include the creation and implementation of any annual budget in conjunction with the finance committee.
· Supervise the daily operations of the Chamber Office to ensure optimal performance, which includes, but is not limited to the following:
o Management of the annual Regional Guide process
o Effectively utilizing the Chamber’s website, and other social and print media to promote the region and its members.
o Ensure operational compliance with the organization’s by-laws
HUMAN RESOURCES DUTIES:
· Establish work schedules to ensure necessary staffing for the Chamber office and events
· Oversee the duties and responsibilities of Chamber of Commerce employees, interns, and volunteers, including the following:
§ Establish annual performance objectives and complete annual assessments
§ Hiring and termination of employees
§ Performance management
§ Training and professional development
§ Employment policy, procedure, and benefits administration.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Partner with all Chamber committees to accomplish goals and objectives. Be a resource for the planning and management of Chamber events.
· Assist in organizational efforts to raise capital.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
· Four-year college degree (master’s degree preferred), or a minimum of five years of experience in an executive, business development, sales, or marketing position.
· Strong leadership, initiative, creativity, and management skills with at least five years of experience in a position of increasing supervisory responsibilities.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a comfort level with presenting information to large groups of people.
· Proficient computer skills, including the use of other office management programs (Microsoft office etc.)
· Results oriented, with the ability to strategize and prioritize workflow, and balance the demands of all towns in the region.
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
· The utmost degree of integrity, honesty, and the ability to use sound judgment and effective decision-making.
· The ability to listen, receive feedback, and foster teamwork between the Board of Directors, office staff, community leaders, and the Chambers membership.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable.
· Travel is required. Flexible work hours. Some nights and weekends are required.
· Minimal physical effort required. Normally seated with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
· Handling of moderately heavy materials.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
