Job Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of men struggling with addiction and homelessness? Join our team at Open Door Mission, where faith-based principles and evidence-based practices intersect to bring hope and healing to those in need. We seek a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization. Compensation includes $135,000 - 150,000 salary and an annual bonus based on meeting performance objectives. https://www.opendoorhouston.org/

 

Requirements

· Passion to help men overcome addictions and homelessness, positively transforming their lives.

· Proven ability to manage, lead, and motivate a staff.

· Experience and a good track record raising money for non-profit organization(s).

· Communication skills and presence to represent ODM well in the media and with partner organizations.

· Experience and joy working to transform men who have been addicted, homeless, and/or incarcerated.

 

Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.

  1. Drive the organization to achieve its mission, while adhering to its values.

a. Working with the Board, ensure that the organization has a clear and appropriate long-range strategy aiming to achieve its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.

 

2. Drive a GREAT fundraising organization in all areas: foundations, corporate, churches, grants, high net worth individuals, mid-level individuals, low level individuals, etc.

a. CEO shall develop personal relationships with current and prospective major donors and ensure they continue to trust and support ODM.

b. The organization including Board members shall have effective outreach to all donors and prospective donors.

 

3. Maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people.

a. Ensure strategic direction, training, and development to allow paid staff to excel and so their specialized work supports the overall mission of ODM.

b. Promote active and broad participation by volunteers and the Board in all areas of the organization’s work, with appropriate training, boundaries, and guidance.

c. Ensure that job descriptions are developed, regular performance evaluations are held, employees are treated well, and sound human resource practices are in place.

d. See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.

 

4. Provide leadership in developing program and organizational plans.

a. Drive implementation through the staff of an Aftercare Alumni program, to complete the transformation of our clients.

b. Apply acumen and vision to “see around the corner,” anticipating opportunities and avoiding problems.

c. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.

 

5. Apply good media and public relations skills to publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals, to support fundraising and communication with potential clients.

 

6. In budget and finance, the CEO will be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.

a. Ensure the organization maintains official records and documents and complies with federal, state and local regulations.

b. Work with the staff, Finance Committee, and Board in preparing a budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.

 

7. Ensure that the organization maintains good relationships, develops productive partnerships, and represents programs and point of view with partner organizations including:

a. Hospitals and Harris Health.

b. Drug courts and other criminal justice organizations.

c. Community groups and organizations.

d. Agencies, organizations, and the general public.

8. Help clients obtain productive work to complete their transformation

a. The organization shall develop productive win-win relationships with business leadership, employers, and vocational training organizations.

b. Influence ODM Education toward areas that increase client employability.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
