About Beersheba Springs Medical Clinic
Embedded in the Beersheba Springs community the Beersheba Springs Medical Clinic reflects and supports the values of a rural Appalachian community and spirit. The Clinic is a 501(c)(3) medical facility established in 2010 by and for the community of Beersheba Springs, Tennessee. We provide comprehensive ambulatory medical services for the community including:
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute episodic illness
- Chronic disease detection and management
- Arranging appropriate hospital and specialist referrals
- Well-child care & school physicals
- Family planning
- Health education including nutrition counseling, weight control, diabetes training, and smoking cessation
- Free medications as well as help obtaining expensive pharmaceuticals directly from drug companies
- Coordination with other community assets to help our patients
- Dental care (limited at this point)
Summary of the Position:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Clinic’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. She or he will initially develop deep knowledge of the field, core programs, operations, and business plans.

Experience:
- Experience preferred in the non-profit sector and with organizational management, with the ability to coach staff, manage a budget, set and achieve strategic objectives, and experience working with a Board of Directors
- Experience with grant writing, social media, and working with Google Drive preferred.
- Experience in working collegially and developing rapport with a wide diverse variety of individuals and leaders. Ability to work well with other staff as a team member, ablility to problem solve individually while communicating clearly.
- Experience in communicating in diverse means and settings, including in-person meetings, email, church presentations, off-site meetings, and Zoom gatherings.
In partnership with the Medical Directors, this position is accountable to the BSMC board.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to
Fundraising:
- Direct and coordinate all fundraising efforts throughout the year including the Dash to the Door event, annual appeal, and sustained giving program.
- Maintain donor database using the Donor Perfect program.
- Regularly work with the treasurer to create fundraising, grant, and cash flow projections.
- Identify and solicit new major donors and maintain current sources of income for clinic operation and growth.
- Assist the board president with educating and encouraging fundraising among board members to their highest ability. Develop materials as necessary.
- Maintain relationships and membership with professional nonprofit and charitable networks.
Clinic management:
- Coordinate clinical operations with medical, professional, and support staff weekly. Conduct staff meetings monthly.
- Coordinate and maintain existing relationships with medical directors and medical resident supervisors with Erlanger, St. Thomas, and Yale Schools of Medicine. Oversee dental services in coordination with staff and major donor Smile 180
- Interact with other organizations that can provide services consistent with the mission and explore the development of new services and programs with medical staff as opportunities and funding present.
- Ensure, with the Medical Directors, that the clinic operates in a professional manner.
- To provide personnel administration -- supervision, employment, and termination of the Clinic Staff.
Administration:
- Interview and negotiate compensation for paid staff with the executive committee.
- Coordinate budget, income, and expenditures with the board treasurer in a shared collaborative space.
- Review and maintain bylaws, revise the business plan annually, and discuss the long-term strategic plan with the board.
- Arrange consultants for fundraising and strategic planning as requested and appropriate.
- Meet regularly with the Board President to plan and conduct bi-monthly board meetings with appropriate materials, discuss fundraising efforts, committee appointments, by-laws, business, and strategic plans, social media, and newsletter,
- Present the mission of the clinic to community groups as requested.
- Maintain relationships and membership with organizations, students, and committees involved in improving the health and conditions in the BSMC service area.
- Coordinate maintenance of BSMC buildings with staff and volunteers
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 32 per week
