Your Role
The Regional Medical Director Team (Provider Performance Clinical Team) is a team of licensed medical directors and clinical program managers who are accountable for population health and utilization results for strategic partner medical groups and IPAs.
In this role, you will be responsible for clinical, utilization, quality and compliance for assigned medical groups. This involves intensive data analysis and presentations. In addition, chairing committees and leading system-wide clinical initiatives as assigned. You will manage RN Clinical Program Managers who will support the work. The Regional Medical Director will report to the Senior Regional Medical Director.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Accountable for utilization, clinical, quality and compliance for assigned medical groups/IPAs
- Lead and contribute to regional and sometimes system-wide initiatives to support BSC priorities
- Participate in and/or lead assigned committees such as delegation oversight
- Lead team of RN Clinical Program Managers
- Be a provider-facing clinical leader and representative of BSC
Your Knowledge and Experience
- 2 years of previous medical leadership experience
- Minimum of 5 years direct patient care experience
- Medical degree (M.D./D.O.)
- Completed residency preferably in adult based primary care specialty (e.g. internal medicine or family practice)
- Active, unrestricted California State Medical License required
Preferred:
- Experience in both health plan and provider organization leadership
- Population health management involving deep data analytic skills
- Strong communication skills, leading meaningful conversations with providers, driving to results
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is: $ 254545.00 to $ 360000.00 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
