JOB SUMMARY
The Foundation Director is responsible for leading the WhidbeyHealth Foundation, implementing its mission, and ensuring its financial sustainability. This role involves strategic planning, fundraising, program development, and stakeholder engagement. The Director serves as the public face of the Foundation and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
PRINCPAL FUNCTIONS include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the Foundation’s strategic plan.
- Provide vision and direction to achieve the Foundation’s mission and goals.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure alignment and support.
- Prepare written reports, presentations, and financials for WhidbeyHealth Foundation board meetings, hospital administration and medical staff as needed.
Fundraising and Development:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners and provide applicable funding opportunities, accurate vision of WhidbeyHealth future grown and community care initiatives.
- Actively seek out and prepare grant proposals to maximize grant revenue to the Foundation.
- Coordinates with WhidbeyHealth departments to obtain information relevant to grant proposals.
- Administers grant request process for approval by the CEO or their delegate and the Foundation Board.
Program Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Foundation’s programs and initiatives.
- Plan programs and events to meet annual development goals in accordance with strategic plan such as the annual Gala event and the annual Tour de Whidbey bike event.
- Ensure programs are aligned with the Foundation’s mission and objectives.
- Monitor program outcomes and impact.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and propose and manage the Foundation’s budget and prepares the Foundation Annual Report.
- Ensure sound financial practices and accountability.
- Oversee financial reporting and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team members to review all capital and minor equipment requests.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the Foundation at public events, conferences, and meetings.
- Convey advocacy and information regarding fundraising efforts and programs to community leaders.
Organizational Management:
- Lead and manage Foundation staff and volunteers.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.
- Ensure effective communication and information sharing within the organization.
- Meet with CEO or delegate monthly or as requested by the CEO to communicate progress and learn about funding opportunities to support WhidbeyHealth and the community.
- Attend two (2) WhidbeyHealth Board of Commissioners meetings annually to provide reports or updates as requested by the CEO.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Training and Experience
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in fundraising required. Experience working with a non-profit organization preferred. Advanced training / education in fundraising strongly desired.
Grant writing skills preferred.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in fundraising and development.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and achieve organizational goals.

Wage Range: $ 100,000 - $140,000 DOE

Schedule: Full-time, Days 8 hour, Mon-Fri
