Job Description

The Multimedia Journalism program at Keene State College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Media Writing Fundamentals, for Spring 2025 and possibility the 2025-2026 academic year. This course introduces students to the core principles of media writing, including Associated Press (AP) style, journalism fundamentals, and effective writing techniques for various media platforms. Instruction will be in person. (M/W, 2pm-3:45pm) This is a part-time, non-benefitted position.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach one or more sections of Media Writing Fundamentals, focusing on foundational skills in media writing
  • Develop lesson plans and assignments that align with course objectives, helping students understand and apply best practices in journalistic writing
  • Assess and provide feedback on students’ writing to foster improvement in clarity, style, and accuracy
  • Engage students in discussions about contemporary issues in media and journalism, helping them connect classroom concepts to real-world applications
  • Adhere to institutional standards and guidelines for grading, attendance, and academic integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or closely related field
  • 3-5 years of experience a media-related field
  • Media writing skills, knowledge of AP Style

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electronic News Gathering (ENG) skills
  • Multimedia reporting and production skills
  • Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
