We are seeking an Associate Project Director / Office Managerto join our team. We are among the world leaders within marine and port structures and our involvement in marine, coastal and geotechnical engineering projects spans the entire lifecycle of a structure. Our services range from consultancy on a specific issue to comprehensive planning and total engineering design and implementation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage our emerging San Diego office with oversight of engineering staff and operations
  • Manage assigned projects' portfolio along with developing and implementing project management best practices
  • Develop and implement project Action Plans, in conjunction with VPs
  • Provide leadership in the area of Distributed Engineering between COWI offices and within COWI
  • Assist in the assignment of resources and key staff to projects
  • Lead various strategic initiatives as assigned by the VP
  • Contribute and provide leadership to aid in the development and improvement of "Best Practices" among all COWI groups: Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management, Commercial and Risk Management and Safety practices, Engineering Specialist
  • Contribute to projects by performing tasks requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in a field of expertise
  • Carry out project engineering duties in accordance with the Company Quality System including, but not be limited to performing structural engineering calculations, analysis and design, design checking and quality assurance, engineering inspections, creating inspection reports; and estimating costs.

In addition to the above, you will also play the following roles:

As BD Account Manager, you will:

  • Provide leadership in business development and marketing activities for the Company including identifying, tracking, positioning, and pursuing project opportunities, and representing the Company in external settings including technical committees, conferences, seminars, professional bodies and business groups; and
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining relations with specified key clients.

In the Strategic Management role, you will:

  • As part of a regional management team, participate in periodic strategy meetings and contribute to the development and achievement of COWI NA and the COWI Group's strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to ensuring that COWI NA delivers and exceeds the budgeted financial performance.

On top of that, you will:

  • Hold a Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with 9+ years of related experience in Marine Project Management, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Hold Professional Engineer status in CA. Licenses in other US states considered an asset.
  • Have participation in National and International professional societies.
  • Have experience and reputation with local clients including but not limited to NAVFAC.
  • Have proven ability to prepare proposals and review agreement terms.
  • Be self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work with staff located remotely
  • Have ability and willingness to travel predominantly in North America.

Base compensation: $160,000 to $225,000 for San Diego location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
