Overview

Though 9 in 10 Latino young adults say a college degree is important for success in life, fewer than 15% age 25 or older hold a bachelors degree. Voices College-Bound Language Academies exists to change that.

Voices is a public charter school network with a mission to prepare all students for the challenges of higher education through the context of an academically rigorous dual immersion program. Every student, regardless of home language, graduates bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

Role Summary

Voices Academies Development and Communications Associate will play an essential role in ensuring that the Central Management Organization (CMO) has the resources needed to serve all network schools. Reporting to the Director of Development (DoD), the position will support the CEO and DoD in development efforts among a variety of external stakeholders including individual, foundation, and corporate donors. The ideal candidate will be a strong relationship-builder who enjoys communicating and collaborating with a range of people. They will have experience juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment, managing projects and working behind the scenes to produce successful development and communication outcomes. The candidate will be driven by an unwavering commitment to the Voices mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Development support, coordination, and project management:

  • Support the CEO, Board of Directors, and DoD to raise funds from current and individuals, foundations and corporations (ex. queuing emails, making calls, submitting applications, writing content, etc.)
  • Execute Voices annual fundraising plan by developing and tracking proposals and reports for all grant-related fundraising
  • Provide briefings and research, set up appointments and small events (ex. tours), queue up communications, secure meeting debriefs and recommend next steps, and input meeting results and next steps in Salesforce
  • Assisting with client stewardship (making calls, sending emails, etc)
  • Proactively manage pipeline of current and prospective donors to ensure cultivation occurs

Internal development systems

  • Use Salesforce to track all activity and measures of success, and create dashboards and reports to track fiscal year progress and use data to inform decisions
  • Ensure that all gifts, contracts and pledges are processed in a timely manner and include an acknowledgement process that recognizes donors at their specific giving levels
  • Collaborate with the finance team to track how grant money is being spent
  • Work with Finance on a quarterly basis to reconcile development records in Salesforce with accounting records
  • Create a streamlined process to communicate restrictions dictated by grant contracts and program budgets
  • Develop Voices school tours protocol that engages donors and coordinates with schools to execute logistics

Marketing, communication, and event planning

  • Maintain the design of the Voices website to ensure information is up to date, modern in design and aligned to brand guidelines
  • Lead and execute a social media strategy (branding, marketing, visibility)
  • Streamline diverse communications needs, including a monthly newsletter
  • Play a hands-on role in creating and overseeing the implementation of initiative or project campaign materials, which may include information gathering, data analysis, writing, copy-editing and production management
  • Lead and assist in the coordination of development and non-development related materials and events
  • Maintain and update El Centro (intranet), Voices Website and Parent Portal

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or related experience in marketing, development, or communications
  • Experience with fundraising, social media marketing & communications
  • Excellent research, data collection, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong data analysis skills, experience with utilizing Salesforce, other CRM or other fundraising/accounting tools
  • Deep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities, public education, social justice, efficacy and equity
  • Experience interacting with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Outstanding project management skills, aptitude to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including facility to adjust communication style and content to meet the needs of varied internal and external audiences
  • Ability to work efficiently independently and within a team environment and to exercise excellent judgement
  • Humility and commitment to the success of others
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Google Suite
  • Works well in a high pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Salesforce Administrator Certified or extensive use with Salesforce Nonprofit platform
  • Knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities
  • Understanding of the unique characteristics of public education and public charter schools

Working Conditions:

  • Regular requirement to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional evening and or weekend work
  • Successfully manage high levels of stress
  • Occasional travel
  • Willingness to be trained as needed

Prior to Employment: Once an offer has been extended, a candidate must meet the following criteria to receive a final contract:

  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Clear Criminal Background Check
  • Valid TB Clearance

Key Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range of $63,000 - $68,000

  • Position follows a 12 month work schedule
